Thanks Karmyn. And I agree there may be a little bit of lag time before the revolution catches up with everyone.
Matt, ha ha. Long time no-trade-messages. Hope things are well. I've been swamped. Will visit tomorrow after Mrs. B does her "guest" post here at Burnettiquette.
I liked your article a lot. I find it interesting that integrating the various functions will have such an effect on the future. It will also slow the internet down as it becomes more acceptable and more video becomes part of the normal process. We're short of bandwidth anyway and need a radical overhaul. Too bad congress doesn't have a clue as to what's going on.
The iPhone is super cool, but I think I can live without one for now. I really just don't see the need for internet surfing while I'm out running errands.
I feel sorry for people who already feel chained to their jobs cause technology like this will just make it worse.
My current cellphone doesn't have a camera, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't play music either. It does have a calendar function, though, but I have never used it. And it has a phone book. I think I have about twelve names in it.
I have a cell phone that I use for, wait, get this, phone calls. I fear I am not keeping up with technology and could care less. One day soon, my kids will think I am as retarded as I thought my parents were with the VHS player and microwave oven. Crap, I think I just dated myself.
So we all know how to act. Be nice & don’t do crime, kick puppies, or start forest fires. But those are easy. The tough rules these days seem to be manners and etiquette governed only by common sense. I didn’t invent the good sense standard, but I am laying claim to it. I’m not Emily Post. I don’t care which fork you use. But I will call out boorish behavior and give kudos for civility. Join me as I comment on how we act. And together we’ll teach folks how to act right again.

I'm thinking two things - Great (no enthusiasm here) - my husband, who is in sales, will get NO rest now.
Secondly, I don't even have an I-pod. How much further behind can I get?
I don't think (and hope) that this new technological wave is going to be happening to me anytime soon.
(Nicely written, James)
